The streets of Seattle are filled with pandemonium. The uproar began when the surprising Bellevue BlueWaters officially clinched the Yount Division yesterday insighting several riots on the Eastside.
All the hype in the pre-season was about a Texas 3 peat and a Houston juggernaut team making that rivalry one for the ages. (BTW - Houston, Texas and Wauwatosa are all battling for the last playoff spot making this year's race for the wildcard one of the best in recent memory). The Blizzard and Salmons were considered strong contenders as well. There was barely any mention of the BlueWaters except when referring to their youth.
In fact, youth was a big factor in the BlueWater resurgence as they were able to trade several prospects for steady veteran help to aid in their playoff push. Today's Bellevue lineup featured 6 new offensive starters. The BlueWaters also added three key arms to the bullpen and 4 new starting pitchers.
The pitching staff is led by 21 game winner and Cy Young candidate Dan Haren whose last victory clinched the division for the BlueWaters, and a strong bullpen. Great seasons from Beimel, Otsuka and Ray have allowed Bellevue to shorten the game and giving them opportunities for comeback victories.
It has all come together and Bellevue can not wait to play the North Shore Slayers in the first round of the BBBL playoffs, although it will be a tough test as North Shore has an AWESOME team.
BlueWater fans 'GO CRAZY' your team is playoff bound where anything can happen. The Seattle streets will allow riots for the next 24 hours.
